Ukraine claims hitting Russian chemical plant with Storm Shadow missiles

(Patria) - The Ukrainian army announced late last night that it had hit a chemical plant in the southern Russian region of Bryansk, which it described as vital to Moscow's war effort, in an attack that involved French-British Storm Shadow air-launched missiles, Reuters reported.

"A massive combined missile and air attack was carried out, including air-launched Storm Shadow missiles that penetrated the Russian air defense system," the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced in a statement on Telegram. "The results of the attack are being assessed."

The plant was described as a "key facility" for the production of gunpowder, explosives, and rocket fuel.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Telegram last night that its air defense units destroyed 57 Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk region in four hours in the afternoon.

The ministry rarely reports any damage inflicted by Ukraine in the war that Russia started with its full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Alexander Bogomaz, governor of the Bryansk region, said on Telegram that Ukraine attacked the region with drones and missiles yesterday afternoon, that no one was injured in the attack, and that no damage was reported.
