Ukraine Sends Troops to Crimea Border: Poroshenko Wants to Talk to Putin

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ordered all military units to be deployed near the borders with Crimea and Donbas. He instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish telephone contact with Vladimir Putin and Western leaders, reports the Patria News Agency.

Petro Poroshenko wrote on Twitter that a meeting was held with security representatives and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and that all units were ordered to be deployed near the administrative borders with Crimea and Donbas.

Meanwhile, Poroshenko announced that he wants to talk directly with Putin and several Western leaders, at a time when tensions between Kyiv and Moscow have escalated, Reuters.

Poroshenko instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to seek phone calls with Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President François Hollande, and US Vice President Joe Biden, the Presidential Press Service announced.

The Russian Federal Security Service previously thwarted terrorist attacks in Crimea, which were being prepared by the intelligence sector of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, according to a statement from the Federal Security Service, reported the Russian agency TASS.

Poroshenko previously said that Russian accusations of Ukraine entering Crimea were a cynical excuse to increase military threats against Ukraine.
