(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law yesterday extending martial law and general mobilization from May 14 to August 11.
Zelensky submitted a proposal to parliament on May 6 to extend martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days, reported The Kyiv Independent.
The Ukrainian parliament voted two days later to approve the extension. It had previously extended martial law and mobilization from February 14 to May 14.
Zelensky first declared martial law and general mobilization on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched its attack on Ukraine. Since then, the measures have been extended multiple times.
They entail that Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60, with some exceptions, cannot leave the country as they may be called up for military service.
In April, parliament adopted a law updating mobilization rules as the country seeks to replenish the ranks of its armed forces.
