One of the greatest crimes, within the genocide committed in the Bosnian Krajina region, occurred precisely on July 20, 1992, in Prijedor. In a single day, 1,600 civilians were killed. Serbian authorities, aided by the criminal JNA, carried out attacks on Bosniak villages on the left bank of the Sana River: Bišćani, Rizvanovići, Rakovčani, Hambarine, Čarakovo, Zecovi, as well as Croatian villages: Briševo, Raljaš, Stara Rijeka, and others.
The bloody rampage resulted in the killing of hundreds of Bosniak and Croatian civilians, and an undetermined number were taken to camps, where they were later brutally liquidated. Throughout July, arrests, rapes, and deportations of Bosniaks to the Omarska, Keraterm, and Trnopolje camps were carried out continuously... Torture, killings, rapes, destruction, looting, and devastation of property were daily practices.
Genocide and other forms of crimes against humanity and international law in the municipality of Prijedor continued throughout the period 1992-1995. In Prijedor, a forced, mass deportation and expulsion of Bosniaks and Croats was carried out. Following a well-rehearsed scenario, the expulsions continued until almost the entire Bosniak and Croatian population was driven out.
More than 31,000 Bosniaks and Croats were tortured in the three most notorious death camps, and more than 1,000 of them were killed. As a consequence of the aggression and genocidal policy, more than 3,200 people of both sexes and all age groups were killed.
