UIO seizes a large quantity of illegal tobacco worth BAM 1,000,000

(Patria) - Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority in the operational action "MARKET" in the area of the Regional Center Mostar seized a large quantity of illegal tobacco and equipment for its production worth over BAM 1,000,000.00.

At two locations belonging to two individuals, a total of 4838 kg of leaf tobacco prepared for cutting, 395 kg of cut tobacco, a tobacco cutting machine, two digital scales, and about 900 tobacco packaging bags were found and temporarily seized. There was no legally prescribed documentation for the seized goods, nor were they marked with excise stamps in the legally prescribed manner.

Legal measures and actions will be taken against the perpetrators of the established irregularities. The goal of the operational action "MARKET", carried out by the UIO, is to detect, sanction, and prevent criminal activities related to the prevention of illegal trade in tobacco and tobacco products.
