UIO: Rolex and luxury handbags seized at Sarajevo Airport

(Patria) - By conducting enhanced controls of passengers arriving at Sarajevo International Airport, authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority successfully prevented an attempt at illegal import of an expensive Rolex watch, branded handbags, cigarettes, and a large quantity of prohibited medical supplies (steroids and anabolic steroids).

The goods that were not declared for import customs clearance were found with four individuals, citizens of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Turkey. The total value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at 145,500 BAM, and legal proceedings will be initiated against the individuals with whom the undeclared goods were found.

This is another activity carried out by the authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority, which emphasizes the importance of cooperation with international organizations UNODC (AIRCOP/ACCU), as well as within the EXBS program. The UIO expresses gratitude for the numerous training sessions and donated equipment, which have significantly improved the implementation of field activities in terms of preventing smuggling and reducing illegal trade at border crossings.
