12 people arrested for irregularities at Foča Penitentiary

(Patria) - The Criminal Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska is conducting an operational action codenamed "Maglić" in the territory of Republika Srpska, within which 12 people have been deprived of liberty due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they have committed the criminal offenses of "Abuse of official position or authority" and "Negligent work in service".

The individuals are suspected of committing the aforementioned criminal offenses in the period from 2010 to 2020 by providing prisoners at the Foča Penitentiary with various illegal benefits.

During the action, searches were carried out at 28 locations in the areas of Banja Luka, Prijedor, Gradiška, Doboj, Foča, Istočno Sarajevo, and Trebinje. So far, documentation proving the existence of the aforementioned criminal offenses, a larger amount of money, weapons, ammunition, explosive devices, a larger amount of money, and other items that can be linked to the aforementioned criminal offenses have been found.

Police officers from the competent police administrations, the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, and the Gendarmerie of the MUP of Srpska are engaged in these activities.

All activities are being carried out under the supervision of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Trebinje.
