Arrestees in Prijedor suspected of killing 29 women and children in the village of Zecovi

Twelve individuals arrested this morning by SIPA members in the Prijedor area are suspected of war crimes committed in 1992 against victims of Bosniak nationality, it was announced by the BiH Prosecutor's Office, by whose order this operation was carried out.

This case is among the most complex cases within the BiH War Crimes Strategy.

Eighteen individuals are suspected in this case, and the arrested are Dušan Milunić, Radomir Stojnić, Radovan Četić, Zoran Stojnić, Željko Grbić, Ilija Zorić, Zoran Milunić, Boško Grujčić, Rade Grujčić, Uroš Grujčić, Rajko Grbić, and Rajko Gnjatović.

International arrest warrants will be issued for three individuals who have been outside BiH for a long time, while one person will be brought in today from KPZ Foča.

For the second person who was supposed to be brought in, the Federal Minister of Justice, Zoran Mikulić, did not issue the necessary consent for their transfer from KPD Zenica, thereby obstructing justice and influencing the investigation against the said person, the statement reads.

The suspects are under investigation for participating in a criminal enterprise aimed at the Bosniak population of the village of Zecovi, municipality of Prijedor, from July 23 to 28, 1992, as members of the Army of Republika Srpska and the police, as well as the Crisis Headquarters.

More than 150 victims were killed in this attack. The bodies of a larger number of the killed were found last year in the Tomašica mass grave, while the bodies of dozens of other victims are still being searched for.

The individuals who were deprived of their liberty are under investigation for the murders of 29 women and children in the village of Zecovi at the Gradina site on July 25, 1992, after which the bodies were removed to a mass grave that is still being searched for.

After being deprived of their liberty, the suspects will be handed over to the acting prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office within the legal deadline, who will question the suspects and then make a decision on proposing pre-trial detention.

At the same time, searches were conducted at several locations in search of evidence related to the suspects.

During the searches, a significant amount of weapons and military equipment was found, as well as other items that can serve as evidence during the investigation.

The investigation in this case is continuing intensively, and an expansion to a larger number of individuals is expected, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
