Sarajevo lawyer Omar Mehmedbašić has been detained at the premises of the FUP, after being arrested in Sarajevo on Thursday by order of the Cantonal Court, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.
In addition to Mehmedbašić, 14 other people were arrested for profiteering, corruption, bribery, and mediating in the postponement of prison sentences for certain convicts.
Mehmedbašić is better known to the general public as the leader of the music group Omar i Mjesečari. He began practicing law through divorce cases, and soon after became one of the most sought-after and highest-paid lawyers in Sarajevo.
Mehmedbašić himself never hid that his clients are mostly people from the margins, charged with the most serious robberies, murders, drug trafficking...
One of Patria's interlocutors said that Omar often establishes very close relationships with some of his clients, whose families he often helps if they end up in prison.
