Five from Bihać arrested for kidnapping Pakistani national and demanding €15,000 for his release

(Patria) - The Federal Police Administration (FUP) arrested five people from Bihać yesterday on suspicion of kidnapping a Pakistani national.

FUP stated that their police officers, under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of the Una-Sana Canton (USK), conducted investigative activities in the USK area with the aim of shedding light on and documenting the criminal offense of kidnapping.

"A Pakistani national, A.S., was kidnapped on October 9 by several individuals from Bihać, after which the kidnappers held A.S. unlawfully imprisoned from that day until October 11, restricting his movement.

They forced him to call his friends, Pakistani nationals staying at the Lipa reception center in Bihać, and other friends in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to pay €15,000 in exchange for his release," FUP stated.

FUP said that their police officers, in cooperation with the Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of USK, located the kidnappers, and during the operation, the kidnapped Pakistani national was found with visible injuries to his head and body, after which he was transported to the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać.

"Due to reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of kidnapping, five people from Bihać were arrested, all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The arrested individuals were processed criminally, questioned as suspects, their mobile phones and SIM cards were confiscated, and searches were conducted of the premises where they reside and which they use.

The suspects will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of USK for further proceedings, along with a report on the committed criminal offense.
