33 people arrested near Kamenica, including 10 police officers

(Patria) - The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Gjilan, the Police Inspectorate, and the Kosovo Police announced that on Friday evening, members of the Kosovo Police, the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, and other agencies searched the village of Karačevo in the municipality of Kamenica and several other locations, arresting 33 people, including 10 police officers, suspected of smuggling people, weapons, and drugs.

The operation began as a result of an investigation lasting nearly a year, led by the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Gjilan, due to allegations of illegal activities, including illegal gambling, human trafficking, arms trafficking, drug trafficking, smuggling of goods, and other criminal activities, reports KoSSev.

"As of the issuance of this statement, a total of 33 suspects have been arrested in connection with the case, including 10 police officers, who will appear before a pre-trial judge within the legal deadline. Gambling machines, about 120 head of livestock, as well as various items suspected of being used in criminal activities have been seized," the statement said.

It further states that this operation, which is the largest of its kind in Kosovo, is an example of cooperation between the prosecution, police, and the police inspectorate. "The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Gjilan, in cooperation and coordination with the Kosovo Police and the Police Inspectorate, is taking all necessary actions regarding the case, and we will continue to inform you of further details and information after the joint action," the statement said.
