The Ministry of Interior of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton brought in three individuals suspected of throwing a stone from the Old Bridge in Mostar into the Neretva on March 28, which bore the inscription Don't forget '93, and due to reckless driving in the old city core, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.
The individuals brought in are identified by initials M.T. (1995), R.L. (1997), and O.R. (1995). After criminal processing, they will be handed over to the jurisdiction of the HNK Prosecutor's Office.
On the same day, the stone was retrieved from the Neretva, but it broke from the force of the impact, and a new stone with the same inscription was placed.
This act cannot be characterized merely as vandalism, according to Mostar residents, and it must not be forgotten that this bridge is under UNESCO protection.
Additionally, a plaque on the approach to the bridge from the eastern side, which listed the names of donors for the reconstruction of the Old Bridge, was also broken.
