
(Patria) - Zagreb police have commented on the search for a child in the Sava River and confirmed that the 34-year-old mother has been arrested on suspicion of committing the crime of aggravated murder of a close person.
"Yesterday, January 15, around 4:10 PM, police responded to a report from a 34-year-old woman who stated she entered the Sava River near the Jankomir Bridge with a child in her arms. Medical assistance was provided to the reporting person while intensive search efforts were undertaken to find the child.
After medical treatment, the 34-year-old woman was arrested last night and brought to police premises for criminal investigation on suspicion of committing the crime of aggravated murder of a close person.
The intensive search did not cease last night, even under conditions that required continuing with the help of strong lighting, but unfortunately without success," stated Zagreb police.
"A police helicopter with a special police crew from Lučko was also involved in the search during the evening. It is equipped with thermal and other cameras that are used to detect people in the most difficult conditions and in hard-to-reach areas.
Today, January 16, in the early morning hours, the search continued, involving all branches of the Zagreb Police Department and the Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior, among numerous other services.
