Two prison employees arrested, two destroyed mobile phones found in escapee's cell

The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office issued a statement following the escape of Amel Sejfović from the Miljacka Penitentiary, which occurred on Sunday at 2:25 PM, reports Patria News Agency.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton received a report about the incident at 2:30 PM. 

- Following that, on the order and under the supervision of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, with the assistance of SIPA members, conducted an investigation at the "Miljacka" Penitentiary. After the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office received an oral order from the duty judge, searches were carried out in three cells, the infirmary, all cabinets used by the prison employees, two apartments, and two cars.

The searches are still ongoing, and so far, phones belonging to employees who were on duty yesterday have been confiscated. Two destroyed phones were found in Amel Sejfović's cell. Video surveillance footage from the penitentiary and surrounding buildings has been seized. Two prison employees have been deprived of their liberty. Simultaneously, a motorcycle suspected of being used in the escape was found in the Ciglane settlement area.

Otherwise, statements are being taken from all employees who were on duty at the penitentiary yesterday. An intensive search is underway for Amel Sejfović and his accomplices.
