Two responsible persons of the Sarajevo Canton Directorate for Roads arrested

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Federal Police Administration police officers, after a multi-month investigation under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, have begun the implementation of the operational action "BALKAN" in the area of the mentioned Canton, related to the criminal offenses of receiving gifts and other benefits, giving gifts and other benefits, abuse of position and authority, forgery of documents.

Within the mentioned action, and by the orders of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, searches are being conducted at six locations in the Sarajevo Canton area, namely two residential buildings and four office premises, as well as private safes in a bank, and two responsible persons of the Sarajevo Canton Directorate for Roads, initials N.D. (born 1966) and H.D. (born 1966), who are linked to the aforementioned criminal offenses, have been deprived of their liberty.

These are individuals who, in their capacity as responsible persons of the Sarajevo Canton Directorate for Roads, during 2017 and 2018, with the aim of obtaining unlawful property benefits, requested and received money and gifts from owners and responsible persons of several business entities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose activities are related to the construction and reconstruction of roads, in order to secure jobs for them by rigging public procurement tenders conducted by the Directorate.

During the searches, computers, laptops, mobile phones and SIM cards, money, documentation, and other items originating from or related to the criminal offenses in question have been temporarily seized so far.

Upon completion of the searches, criminal processing of the deprived persons will be carried out, after which they will be handed over to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton within the legal deadline, along with a Report on the committed criminal offense.

The Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina provided a significant role in the implementation of this operational action.
