Former Employee of Sarajevo Prison Arrested for Using Fake Diploma to Get Job

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Police officers of the Federal Police Administration, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, on February 5, 2020, undertook measures and actions within their jurisdiction, during which they deprived of liberty a former employee of the Sarajevo Correctional Facility, initials E.H. (born 1958), who is suspected of committing the criminal offenses of "Forgery of Documents" under Article 373 and "Fraud" under Article 294, Paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 55, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"The grounds for suspicion arise from the fact that the suspect E.H. unlawfully obtained a fake diploma from the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, which she then used as proof of completed higher education when seeking employment in various institutions from 2008 to July 2019, thereby damaging the budgets of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo Canton in an as yet undetermined amount.

As part of the aforementioned activities, and by order of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, a search was conducted of the residential property used by the suspect, during which items sought by the Court's order were found and seized, and which will be used as evidence in the criminal proceedings," the FUP stated.

The person deprived of liberty was processed criminally in the official premises of the Federal Police Administration and, within the legal deadline, was handed over along with a Report on the committed criminal offense to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton for further jurisdiction.
