Arrested in Operation Cryptus: Asmir Mulaj Detained for One Month

Deciding on the motion filed by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina for detention, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on February 25, 2016, issued a decision by which the suspect Mulaj Asmir was ordered into custody. Detention under this decision can last for one month, counting from the day of arrest, i.e., until March 24, 2016, or until a new decision by the Court, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Mulaj was arrested in Operation Cryptus along with Kenad Muminović.

Having reviewed the submitted evidence, the Court determined that there is a well-founded suspicion that the suspect committed the criminal offense he is charged with, and ordered detention due to the existence of special circumstances indicating that the suspect will obstruct the criminal proceedings by influencing witnesses and accomplices.

Asmir Mulaj is suspected of committing the criminal offense of organized crime under Article 250, Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH), in conjunction with the criminal offense of unauthorized trafficking of narcotic drugs under Article 195, Paragraph 1 of the CC BiH, creation and introduction of computer viruses under Article 292v of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska (CC RS), computer fraud under Article 292g of the CC RS, unauthorized access to a computer, computer network, telecommunications network, and electronic data processing under Article 292d of the CC RS for the purpose of collecting personal data (first name, last name, non-cash payment card number, IP address of internet access, photographs), counterfeiting credit cards and non-cash payment cards under Article 276 of the CC RS, money laundering under Article 209 of the CC BiH, forgery of documents under Article 377 of the CC RS, and illegal trade under Article 267 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC FBiH).
