Passenger arrested, police searching for 19-year-old BMW driver who hit two pedestrians and fled

(Patria) - On 03/06/2025, at approximately 8:50 PM, a traffic accident occurred on the roadway of Zmaja od Bosne street, in the municipality of Novo Sarajevo, in which two people were injured as pedestrians.

The driver of a "BMW" motor vehicle hit pedestrians L.M. (2002) from Tešanj and A.B. (2002) from Tešanj at a pedestrian crossing, after which he fled the scene of the accident. The 23-year-old woman sustained severe bodily injuries at KCUS and was admitted to the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology for further treatment. The 23-year-old man sustained minor bodily injuries at the "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" General Hospital and was released for home treatment.

The duty prosecutor was informed, who ordered an investigation to be conducted, with the presence of permanent court experts in traffic and mechanical engineering.

The "BMW" vehicle involved in this traffic accident was found parked in an underground garage in the municipality of Novi Grad.

H.B., born in 2004 in Prizren, reported to the premises of the Old Town Police Department and stated to police officers that he was the passenger at the time of the traffic accident. At 11:50 PM, police officers from the Traffic Investigation Department arrested 21-year-old H.B. on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of Failure to Provide Assistance to a Person Injured in a Traffic Accident (Article 337, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), and he was transferred to the Detention Unit for Detained Persons of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton.

Due to suspicion of committing the criminal offenses: Serious Offenses Against Public Traffic Safety (Article 336, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), Endangering Public Traffic (Article 332, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Failure to Provide Assistance to a Person Injured in a Traffic Accident (Article 337, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), an operational search has been issued for A.V., born in 2006 in Sarajevo.

Police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton are working intensively to find the 19-year-old suspect.
