Man arrested for fatally hitting cyclist with car in Čelić and fleeing the scene

(Patria) - A man has been arrested on suspicion of fleeing the scene of an accident in Ratkovići near Čelić on September 14, in which a cyclist was killed by a car.

Police officers from the Criminal Police Department of the Tuzla Police Administration and the Čelić Police Station, in cooperation with the Brčko District Police, while gathering operational information regarding the identification of the perpetrator of a traffic accident with a fatality (from September 14 in the settlement of Ratkovići, municipality of Čelić), on September 23, through operational work in the field, obtained information that a passenger motor vehicle, a Golf, used by M.F., born in 1988, from Gornji Rahić, Brčko District of BiH, could be linked to the serious criminal offense against public traffic safety.

Through further operational actions, the vehicle in question was found hidden in the Brčko District area, while M.F. was deprived of his liberty and taken to the detention facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla Canton.

M.F. was handed over yesterday with a report to the Prosecutor's Office of the Tuzla Canton for jurisdiction and further proceedings, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of "Serious Offenses Against Public Traffic Safety" from Article 336, Paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the criminal offense of "Failure to Provide Assistance to a Person Injured in a Traffic Accident" from Article 337, Paragraph 1 of the same Law, announced the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla Canton.
