Mato Baotić Arrested, Suspected of Raping Two Women in Orašje in 1992

Officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) arrested Mato Baotić on suspicion of raping two women in the Orašje area during 1992, BIRN reported, as carried by the Patria news agency.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated that Baotić is suspected of, as a member of the Military Police of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO), forcing two women into sexual intercourse between May and November 1992.

- He is suspected that, together with another person, in May 1992, he took one woman to a house in the Orašje municipality area, where both of them raped her, accompanied by psychological and physical abuse - the statement from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH said.

The Prosecutor's Office stated that Baotić is suspected of raping one woman in the premises of an elementary school in Orašje, which served as a prison for civilians of Serbian ethnicity, together with another person.

Baotić will be questioned at the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, after which a decision will be made on whether to propose custody or restrictive measures, NAP reports.
