One of the largest drug dealers in Serbia arrested

One of the largest drug dealers in Serbia and an international narcotics smuggler was arrested this morning, according to "Novosti" and "Blic", reports the Patria news agency.

As announced by the Ministry of Interior, K. R. (born 1964) from Belgrade was arrested on suspicion of being the organizer of a group involved in international drug smuggling.

A total of more than seven kilograms of drugs were seized, including four kilograms and 196 grams of cocaine and three kilograms and 130 grams of heroin, while the suspect's associates are on the run.

The Ministry of Interior stated that this has broken yet another chain of international drug smuggling, whose organizer was based in Belgrade, and that this was achieved thanks to prolonged operational work by the SBPOK.

It is added that the group was dismantled in cooperation with police services from several continents, and that the drugs were seized in multiple countries in Europe and around the world.

"The suspect, as the organizer, along with associates who are currently on the run, over a longer period of time, found and engaged citizens of the Republic of Serbia as couriers to, for the needs of his group, carry out smuggling of cocaine and heroin outside the countries of origin," the statement said.

The police statement cites four examples of drug smuggling - from Ecuador, from Istanbul, from Mozambique via Brussels, and from India via Hungary.

In all four cases, Serbian citizens were engaged as couriers (three women, M. K., D. S., Ž. S., and a man, M. M.), and the four of them were arrested at airports with a total of seven kilograms of pure cocaine and heroin. The suspect K. R. will be brought before the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime.
