Bosnian citizen arrested for attempting to smuggle six people from Montenegro

(Patria) - BiH Border Police arrested a Bosnian citizen identified as A. Š. (43) yesterday after he was caught smuggling six people of Afro-Asian origin who had illegally entered the territory of BiH from the direction of Montenegro.

The smuggling was prevented in the village of Međurječje in the Čajniče area, following a police chase of a passenger motor vehicle Toyota, with BiH license plates, as the driver had previously ignored orders from police officers to stop the vehicle.

Upon being caught up with, six foreign nationals who did not possess identification documents were found in the vehicle, and they stated in the Migrant Questionnaires that they were from Pakistan.

The duty prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office and the pre-trial judge of the BiH Court were informed about the incident, and according to their orders, the driver A.Š. was deprived of his liberty and questioned as a suspect, while the vehicle and other evidence were temporarily confiscated.

The foreign nationals were handed over to the BiH Service for Foreigners' Affairs for further processing. A report on the committed criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons will be submitted to the BiH Prosecutor's Office in the regular procedure.
