Former Army of RBiH member arrested in Sarajevo

Acting on the order of a prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes, SIPA police officers located and apprehended one suspect in the Sarajevo area, a former member of the Army of RBiH. The suspect is under investigation for war crimes committed against victims of Serb nationality during 1992 in the Sarajevo area, it was announced by the BiH Prosecutor's Office, reports Patria.

In the interest of the investigation and further activities, the Prosecutor's Office will not disclose the identity of the suspect at this time.

The suspect is under investigation and is accused of committing crimes against victims of Serb nationality, civilians, and elderly persons who remained in the city area controlled by the Army of RBiH, during the war in BiH, in his capacity as a member of the Army of RBiH.

He is suspected of, along with persons known to him, conducting illegal searches and arrests of civilians of Serb nationality, men and women of various ages, in the Alipašino Polje neighborhood and other Sarajevo neighborhoods. They were illegally detained in an improvised prison in the Alipašino Polje neighborhood and other facilities in the Novi Grad municipality.

The investigation in this case pertains to murders, illegal detention, rape, torture, and inhumane treatment of victims. The suspect will be handed over to the acting prosecutor within the legal deadline, who will question him and then decide on further actions in accordance with the law.
