Fire extinguished in the Bijela area near Konjic

A Mi8MTV helicopter team from the 2nd Helicopter Squadron of the Air Force and Anti-Aircraft Defence Brigade of the Armed Forces of BiH, successfully extinguished a forest fire in the Bijela area, municipality of Konjic, after 2 hours and 30 minutes of engagement, reports the Patria News Agency.  

The fire covered about 15 hectares of land overgrown with grass, low vegetation, and beech forest, with a tendency to spread to areas overgrown with beech and fir forests. Due to the inaccessibility of the terrain, the fire could only be extinguished from the air by helicopter.

The great distance of water from the fire site also presented an additional effort for the crews, and a total of 25 tons of water were dropped during the operation.

During the execution of this task, the crew adhered to all prescribed safety measures, and the result was a very high-quality and professional execution of the firefighting task by the members of the 2nd Helicopter Squadron, the Ministry of Defence of BiH announced.
