Association "Initiative for Crime Prevention and Resocialization" Donated 3,000 BAM

The Association „Initiative for Crime Prevention and Resocialization“ (CSRI) is implementing a project called „Channel Anger into Strength“.

This project plans to present a program for working with prisoners to the staff of the Sarajevo Correctional Facility and to teach them how to apply this program in everyday life, with the main goal being the resocialization of prisoners, reports the Patria news agency.  

The Centar Sarajevo Municipality, led by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, has been supporting the work of this Association for years and recognized the importance of such a project, allocating 3,000 BAM for this purpose in the 2015 budget.

-This is the first project of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, aimed at understanding the reasons why someone committed a criminal offense, rather than just addressing the consequences. „Channel Anger into Strength“ is a program that, through work with prisoners, attempts to develop their intelligence and transform violent behavior into positive energy, emphasized project coordinator Alma Kovačević.

Sanjin Manjo, project assistant, said that this activity is being implemented for the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

-This is one of the rare projects dealing with reforms that need to be carried out within the prison system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Manjo said, as announced by the Centar Municipality.
