Association 'Heart for Children with Cancer' sent 40 agricultural packages to members

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about different, but much harder times for children with cancer. Besides the difficult fight against cancer, and the hard and complex treatment, the fear of viral infections, which can be a great threat to them due to a weakened immune system, causes great stress and worry, according to a statement from the Association 'Heart for Children with Cancer'.

The Association 'Heart for Children with Cancer', through its activities, strives to reduce fear and worry and to provide comprehensive support and assistance to children with cancer, as well as their families, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

'Thus, we came up with the idea to launch the Family Agriculture project, which aims to help families use their time spent in isolation constructively, to relax and distract themselves through joint family activities, and to form a small garden from which they will eventually get healthy and organic food, because we all know how important healthy nutrition and healthy lifestyles are for children with cancer,' it is stated.

The Association sent 40 agricultural packages to families across FBiH.

'It is currently the planting and transplanting season. All that is needed is willingness, seeds or seedlings, soil, water, a container, and a handful of love for homegrown food. We believe this will be a new experience for our children and families, especially for those who have not had their own garden before. This is an excellent opportunity for children to enjoy new and different activities through gardening and caring for their plants. We hope that in this way we will manage to dispel fear and worry, at least for a moment,' said Fikret Kubat, director of the Association 'Heart for Children with Cancer'.

The agricultural package consists of eight types of seeds, garden gloves, a hoe, latex gloves, protective masks, and hand sanitizer.

The Association thanks friends and donors from the Office for Social Care of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina who supported this project with their donation.

The humanitarian number 17010 is also active. By calling, you donate 2 KM to help children with cancer!
