(Patria) - Given the announced start of federal incentive payments this week, the Association of Farmers of the Federation of BiH wishes to remind the cantons of their obligation to submit to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry calculations for production for the IV quarter of last year.
"So far, only Posavski, Herzegovina-Neretva, and Bosanska-Podrinje cantons have done their part, thanks to which farmers from these cantons will receive incentives first.
The delay in submitting calculations from the two cantons with the largest number of milk producers, namely Unsko-Sanski and Tuzlanski canton, is particularly worrying. We remind the competent cantonal
ministries that both the Budget of BiH and the Incentive Program were adopted on time this year, and the cantonal level will be responsible for any delays in payments. On this occasion, we want to welcome the measures to strengthen agriculture proposed by the Government of the Federation of BiH. In this period, the absolute priority of all competent institutions should be to increase cultivated areas, i.e., food production. Every additional mark invested in agriculture will reduce our dependence on imported food in the long run.
After the borders were closed and movement between countries was restricted, it is finally clear to everyone how important it is for us to be able to feed Bosnia and Herzegovina. The pandemic will pass, but its lessons must not be forgotten. We hope that agriculture will be able to count on strong state support even after we overcome the current crisis," say the Association of Farmers of FBiH.
