Association of Farmers of the Federation of BiH: Import lobby stronger than the state

(Patria) - The Association of Farmers of the Federation of BiH condemns the stance of certain members of the Council of Ministers who voted against the Proposal of the Decision on special protective measures for the import of certain products originating from European Union member states at yesterday's session.

"Protection of domestic production should be a priority for every state institution, while yesterday's vote was clearly swayed by pressure from import lobbies. We are particularly disappointed by the fact that the decision was rejected by the votes of ministers of Bosniak nationality (Bisera Turković, Selmo Cikotić, Sifet Podžić), who regularly present themselves in their statements as the greatest protectors of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Their vote yesterday is proof that the interests of individuals are more important to them than the interests of united farmers from both BiH entities. An extraordinary meeting of farmer associations from all over BiH will be held in the coming days, where we will decide on our further steps. As we have already announced, if our demands are not met by February 25, border crossings will be blocked, and we will also consider protests in front of the Council of Ministers building," the statement said.
