A lightning strike early Saturday morning caused a fire on the island of Lastovo, between Hum and Sv. Luka, and it is currently being extinguished, according to the Lastovo Volunteer Fire Department, reports the Patria News Agency.
The fire was reported shortly before 4 AM, and eight firefighters with three vehicles were dispatched to the scene. Due to the inaccessible terrain, a Canadair aircraft was also engaged in the morning.
As stated by the Lastovo Volunteer Fire Department, approximately 18 hectares have been burned, and the fire could be brought under control during the morning, writes Index.
