SaMED participants visit pharmaceutical company Bosnalijek

The third international congress of medical students (SaMED), held in Sarajevo from February 1st to 5th, gathered over 350 students of biomedicine and young doctors from 30 countries across four continents, and it is the largest congress of its kind in Southeast Europe, Patria reports.

Bekir Rovčanin, president of the SaMED Organizing Committee, stated that the Congress has once again positioned Sarajevo at the European and global level, thus branding Sarajevo in that regard.

Almira Hadžović Džuvo, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo, said that the entire organization of the congress is handled by students.

- They do it themselves, thereby demonstrating exceptional abilities not only as future young doctors but also as future managers, which is what is sought after in today's job market. This is a unique opportunity to meet their colleagues from all continents, which in a way creates a network that will be essential for them in their future medical work. Today, without connections with colleagues from the region and beyond, one cannot be a good healthcare professional - believes the Dean.

The presence of eminent lecturers from our country, the region, Europe, and the USA is the best proof of the importance of SaMED and its role in the field of medical science.

Prof. Dr. Ivan Damjanov believes that such congresses help young people make decisions and create a vision for their future lives.

- I believe it is my duty to make students happy, and then when they graduate, they will be happy doctors, and happy doctors make their patients happy, thus completing the entire circle to bring us all to a higher level of happiness.

The organization of such a large event would be unimaginable without the support of project friends and, of course, sponsors. The pharmaceutical company "Bosnalijek" has once again recognized the importance of this project for the wider community.

Kenan Kekić, marketing manager at "Bosnalijek", says that the SaMED project is very significant for the company because the congress's goals align with the company's mission, which is to improve health and enhance the quality of life for our patients.

During the congress, 120 lectures on various topics are planned, divided into 9 sessions, and 8 practical workshops. One such workshop was held at "Bosnalijek".

One of the SaMED participants says that the purpose of the visit to Bosnalijek is for participants to see the drug manufacturing process at the company.

- Also, this year a workshop on ECG has been organized where participants will have the opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills about ECG that they did not know before.

- There are also students who are "Bosnalijek" scholarship holders, and we believe that some of them will find their first employment at "Bosnalijek" - said Kekić during the students' visit.

SaMED participants are future leaders of the healthcare systems of their home countries, and this is an excellent opportunity for them to exchange experiences and opinions in their future active approach to reforming and improving the healthcare system.

Natalija Pavliukovych from Ukraine says that the Congress has once again been organized at a high level, and we are very proud to be a part of it.

- We like the presentations and the level of participants involved. We sincerely hope to come again next year.
