Ivanović Murder: Two Police Officers Detained

KOSOVO, (Patria) - Two members of the Kosovo police have been detained on suspicion of failing to secure the crime scene, said the prosecutor leading the investigation into the murder of Oliver Ivanović.

This was confirmed by prosecutor Njazi Redža, as reported by RTS.

An investigation is underway into the possible consequences of the detained officers' actions. The names of the officers have not been released, and they have been remanded in custody for 48 hours.

Njazi, following what is described as an ambiguous statement from the Kosovo police, confirmed that two officers from the station in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica have been detained and remanded for 48 hours because they did not properly secure the crime scene immediately after the murder of Oliver Ivanović.

- They were on duty and did not do their job properly - Njazi told the Pristina portal Kallxo.

The Kosovo police earlier stated that they are suspected of "manipulating evidence" and that they have been remanded for up to 48 hours.

It was also stated that, "pursuant to an order issued by the Basic Court in Mitrovica," they searched two locations in the northern part of the city and seized a TT pistol and two magazines with nine rounds of 7.62 mm caliber.

Oliver Ivanović, leader of the Civic Initiative SDP, was killed on January 16 in front of the party headquarters in North Mitrovica.
