Murder of a boy is the worst case of violence in the last 20 years!

The case of the murder of a four-year-old boy in Hadžići is unprecedented in  psychological and medical practice so far, clinical psychologist from Sarajevo Čedomir Novaković told the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

According to him, this is the most horrific case of violence seen in the last two decades in BiH, and that people who knew about the violence were afraid to report it and feared revenge!

- The violence committed against a small helpless person exceeds all boundaries of both healthy and disturbed reason; there must also be something beyond the clinical picture of disorder. The crisis that has engulfed the entire country and society affects each individual differently – says Novaković.

According to him, it is evident that this case first involves a broken marriage, followed by the mother's extramarital relationship, poverty, unemployment...

- This is a case that, for me, in the last twenty years ranks first in terms of negative circumstances, in the manner in which the violence was committed. A four-year-old child cannot understand what is happening to him, why all this is happening. In Sarajevo, as in other large cities, there are various forms of deviant behavior, violence, hooliganism, harassment, but this case is something that surpasses human understanding – emphasizes Novaković.

Answering the question of how it is possible that none of the neighbors, nor institutions, noticed earlier that such terrible things were happening, nor reacted, Novaković says that fear has crept among people.

- None of them, neighbors and institutions, can say they didn't know or that there was no suspicion, but people are afraid. I claim that even those neighbors who intended to do something, someone stopped them or they stopped themselves, because they fear the reaction, perhaps they fear possible revenge since the deviant environment is far more dominant in such situations than the environment of normal behavior and normal functioning – concludes this expert.
