The murders in Paris are heinous, a barbaric act

British Prime Minister David Cameron condemned the attack on the Paris office of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo on Twitter.

'The murders in Paris are heinous. We stand with the French in the fight against terrorism and in defence of media freedom,' he stated.

At least 11 people were killed and several injured in the shooting. French President Francois Hollande immediately went to the scene of the attack. The attackers fled.

Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, condemned the brutal attack on the Charlie Hebdo editorial office in Paris in a press release.

- I am deeply shocked by the brutal and inhuman attack that has struck the Charlie Hebdo editorial office. This is an unacceptable act, a barbarism that concerns all of us as human beings and Europeans. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. On my own behalf and on behalf of the European Commission, I express our greatest solidarity with France - said Juncker.
