Zvornik policeman Dragan Đurić, who was killed by attacker Nermin Ibrić in an attack on a police station on Monday evening, was on the list of suspects for war crimes in Srebrenica, which was first published by the news agency Patria last November.
Complete data on the killed Đurić were released today after his funeral at the Karakaj cemetery in Zvornik, and they match the data on the list which includes more than 800 suspects for crimes in Srebrenica in 1995, with more than 400 listed as working in BiH police structures.
The killed policeman Đurić was one of the policemen on the list of suspects for crimes. The list of suspects for crimes in Srebrenica was compiled by an expert group consisting of several members from Republika Srpska, historian Smail Čekić from the Federation of BiH, and one expert delegated by the international community.
Dragan Đurić was born on November 17, 1967, in Banovići. He lived in the Ulice settlement in Zvornik. He was a member of the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs from April 7, 1994, slightly more than a year before the Srebrenica genocide.
Furthermore, his name is also included in the documentation of the Hague Tribunal, which is an integral part of the evidence materials against Ljubiša Beara and Vujadin Popović, convicted for genocide in Srebrenica.
Đurić was killed shortly before 8 PM on Monday by 24-year-old Ibrić, whose father was also killed by RS members in 1991, along with more than 750 other neighbors from the Zvornik area. The attack on the police in Zvornik, in which the attacker Ibrić was also killed, has so far been characterized by police and prosecutors as a terrorist act.
The funeral of Đurić was attended by the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, Deputy Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Anton Kasipović, Minister of Internal Affairs Dragan Lukač, and Minister of Transport and Communications Neđo Trninić.
