Associate of Slain General Soleimani Killed

Masked armed attackers today ambushed and killed Abdolhosein Mojadami, a local commander of paramilitary security forces in southwestern Iran, an associate of Qasem Soleimani, the Iranian general recently killed in a US drone strike in Baghdad, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported.

The slain commander, Mojadami, led Basij forces, a paramilitary wing of the Revolutionary Guard responsible for internal security and other tasks, AP reported. He was liquidated in front of his house in Khuzestan province.

Two attackers on a motorcycle, armed with rifles, ambushed Mojadami, IRNA reported.

Other Iranian media reported that the attackers covered their faces with masks and that four shots were fired.

An investigation into the case is underway, and the motive for the attack is not yet clear.
