(Patria) - Police in Belgium on Tuesday killed a suspected Tunisian extremist accused of killing two Swedish football fans in a shooting in Brussels on Monday evening.
Several hours after a manhunt began in the Belgian capital, Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden told VRT: "We have good news that we have found the person." She said a weapon believed to have been used in the shooting had been found.
The federal prosecutor’s office was more cautious, saying in a text message to the Associated Press: “There are strong indications, but no certainty” that the man had fired the shots.
Police shot him in the Schaerbeek neighbourhood, and he was reportedly in a nearby cafe.
