KILLINGS, PERSECUTION, RAPE: Indictment also against Milenko Stanić

(Patria) - A prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes has filed an indictment against Stanić Milenko, born in 1962 in Vlasenica, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The accused is charged with, during the period from April 1992 to March 1993, during a widespread and systematic attack on the civilian population of Bosniak nationality in the area of Vlasenica, in his capacity as president of the Vlasenica Crisis Headquarters and later the War Presidency of the Municipality of Vlasenica, participating in a joint criminal enterprise in the area of the Municipality of Vlasenica, which consisted of the majority Bosniak population, through killings, unlawful detentions, rapes, torture, enforced disappearances, deportations, and other inhumane acts, when the persecution of the Bosniak population from the area of the Municipality of Vlasenica was carried out.

He is charged with crimes committed during the attacks on the villages of Drum, Gradina, Džamdžići, and Alihodžići, during which several civilians of Bosniak nationality were killed, their property destroyed and burned, and a large number of civilians taken to the unlawful detention camp Sušica in Vlasenica.

Furthermore, the accused is also charged with crimes of unlawful detention, murder, torture, abuse, rape, and sexual abuse committed against detainees in the Sušica camp, as well as with the destruction and demolition of the Hajrija mosque in Vlasenica, which was destroyed with a large amount of explosives and represented a cultural, historical, and religious monument.

The accused Stanić Milenko is charged with criminal offenses of crimes against humanity under Article 172 of the Criminal Code of BiH. The prosecution will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling 104 witnesses, including 14 witnesses under assigned protection measures, and by submitting more than a hundred pieces of evidence.
