(Patria) - The United Arab Emirates will stand by its decision to establish relations with Israel even as the country wages war against Hamas, Al Arabiya reported.
- The UAE made a strategic decision, and strategic decisions are long-term, said UAE Presidential Diplomatic Advisor Anwar Gargash at a conference in Dubai.
The UAE and Bahrain established diplomatic relations with Israel at the end of 2020, through the Abraham Accords mediated by the United States.
Various reports indicate that Saudi Arabia is in the process of considering diplomatic relations with Israel, which have since stalled following Israel's attack on Gaza.
- There is no alternative to finding a political path to end the Israeli occupation. Arab confrontation with Israel has not been successful, Gargash emphasized.
He adds that the UAE is working to support Palestinians by increasing Arab political coordination and intensifying pressure on Israel to find a political solution.
The UAE has sent tons of aid, established a field hospital, and set up a desalination plant to supply the besieged area with water.
