Contraband goods worth BAM 115,000 seized in several operations

Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority temporarily seized a larger quantity of various goods worth BAM 115,300 in several separate operations, reports Patria News Agency.

Based on operational knowledge of smuggling goods from the Republic of Turkey, officials of the Regional Center Tuzla, Smuggling and Offenses Prevention Group, checked the origin of goods in 2 independent retail stores in the municipality of Gradačac. During the checks, it was determined that goods of foreign origin were present in the facilities. These were goods originating from the Republic of Turkey, specifically 6,518 pieces of various textile products (tracksuits, sweaters, t-shirts, etc.). The value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at BAM 100,000.

In a joint operation of authorized officials of the ITA and police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla Canton, PS Zapad, due to suspicion of illegal trade in excise products in the Tuzla area, a passenger motor vehicle of a private individual was inspected. During the inspection, 110 kg of finely cut tobacco with a market value of BAM 14,300 was found and seized. The said person was fined BAM 1,500.

Authorized officials of the Smuggling and Offenses Prevention Group, during operational work at the Rača Border Crossing, using equipment and a scanner donated by the US government through the EXBS program, found undeclared goods in a passenger motor vehicle. Four new aluminum rims of the brand "AUDI" with a market value of BAM 1,000.00 were found.

Against the perpetrators of the described illegalities, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Offenses of BiH, requests for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be filed before the competent court.
