A married couple, their ten-year-old son, and a housekeeper were killed in a villa in the northwestern part of Washington, which was then set on fire, the District of Columbia police announced today, reports the Patria News Agency.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier stated that at least three victims had injuries inflicted by sharp and blunt objects, and that all four died violently, AP writes. The victims sustained fatal injuries before the house was set on fire yesterday evening.
Lanier stated that among the deceased were 46-year-old CEO Savvas Savopoulos and his wife Amy (47), and police believe the remaining two victims were the Savopoulos couple's 10-year-old son, as well as their housekeeper.
Police found a Porsche car belonging to the murdered family in the neighboring state of Maryland, which was also set on fire.
The investigation is ongoing, according to a police statement.
