Majority in Una-Sana Canton questionable for budget adoption, veterans and healthcare workers protest

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The session of the Una-Sana Canton Assembly, where representatives are considering the canton's budget and the financial plan of the USK Health Insurance Fund, is being held in the shadow of peaceful protests by budget beneficiaries.

Employees in healthcare institutions, who have not received their December salaries due to the non-adoption of the Fund's plan, spontaneously gathered in front of the USK Assembly building to point out that their existence must not be a tool for politicking.

- We ask the Assembly representatives not to listen to the orders of their party leaders but to act according to their conscience. We are not interested in politics. We have honestly earned our salaries and are only seeking our rights - says Elvir Hrustanović, president of the Independent Professional Union of Healthcare Workers at the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać.

Demobilized veterans are also in front of the Assembly building, demanding the adoption of the budget so that the USK Government can pay veteran benefits.

There were 26 representatives present at the session, and for now, there is no parliamentary majority that would adopt the budget and the financial plan of the USK Health Insurance Fund.
