(Patria) - The Srebrenica Memorial Center, in cooperation with the Public Institution Center for Culture Tuzla, opened the traveling exhibition titled 'Stories from Srebrenica' at the Youth Center Tuzla.
This exhibition uniquely combines objects that belonged to the victims with stories told about them by their closest relatives, along with video testimonies of genocide survivors.
The Memorial Center team worked for months on the realization of this exhibition, and the objects were donated for permanent safekeeping by the families of the murdered.
It was necessary to combine the recorded video testimonies of survivors with the exhibited artifacts and stories about the victims of the genocide.
Throughout the exhibition, the most striking statements of survivors and victims of the genocide during their separation on July 11, 1995, are highlighted in several places.
- We named the exhibition 'Stories from Srebrenica'. It is a combination of video testimonies and physical artifacts. It contains five personal stories about people from Srebrenica who were killed in the genocide, and five video stories of survivors about life during the war and the consequences of the genocide.
Each story is divided into three periods: life, death, and the found object. Through these three parts, we talk about the person who was killed in the genocide - said Ahmo Mehmedović, one of the curators at the Memorial Center.

Before the opening of the exhibition, the Mayor of Tuzla, Zijad Lugavić, and the Assistant Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, Amra Begić, addressed the attendees. They emphasized the importance of cooperation between numerous institutions and the Memorial Center in preserving the memory of the genocide in Srebrenica.
Begić thanked the young people, high school students, and university students for attending, who, alongside mothers and members of women's associations from Srebrenica, were the majority at this opening. She also highlighted the significant work of each team member at the Center and the effort required to realize such an exhibition.
She particularly thanked the mothers and other family members of the murdered victims for the trust they placed in the Memorial Center by donating the belongings of their loved ones for permanent safekeeping.
'Stories from Srebrenica' can be viewed by visitors in Tuzla until Friday, June 9, after which the exhibition will move to Prijedor.
The Youth Center, where the exhibition is set up, will be open until that date every day from 9 AM to 9 PM.
