
(Patria) - Today has been declared a National Day of Mourning in Turkey due to a fire that broke out in a hotel in Bolu province, which claimed the lives of at least 66 people.
- Our flags will be flown at half-mast throughout the country and at our foreign missions until sunset on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said yesterday in Ankara.
Messages of condolence to the President of Turkey and support for the Turkish people following the terrible fire at the hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort, in Bolu province, were also sent from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo.
At least 66 people died, while 51 were injured in yesterday's fire at the Turkish ski resort of Kartalkaya.
Numerous emergency teams from neighboring cities, including firefighters, disaster response units, and medical teams supported by helicopters, were dispatched to the scene of the accident.
About 230 people were evacuated from the hotel. An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
