Two persons arrested in Travnik, suspected of faking accidents for insurance claims

(Patria) - Police officers of the Federal Police Administration, Field Office Travnik for the area of the Central Bosnia Canton, Canton 10 and the Una-Sana Canton, Criminal Police Sector, on June 12, 2026, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the Central Bosnia Canton and by order of the Municipal Court in Travnik, conducted an operational-tactical action code-named "Fingiranje 2" in the area of the Central Bosnia Canton.

Persons G.P. (born 1989) and I.K. (born 1991), both from Travnik, were arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of "Forgery of documents" under Article 373 and "Aggravated theft" under Article 287 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH.

As part of the said action, searches were carried out at several locations, during which expensive cars, signal jammers, a larger amount of money in various denominations, forged driver's licenses, car parts, mobile phones, SIM cards, as well as other items that will be used as evidence in the criminal proceedings were found.

These individuals are suspected of having faked a number of traffic accidents in the previous period, using vehicles with tampered chassis numbers and forged documentation – driver's licenses, in order to collect insurance payouts from insurance companies, and thus obtain illegal property gain.
