Large cleaning action of Barice picnic area on Saturday – Let's Clean the City in One Day

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - An informal group of citizens, united by the need and idea to live in a clean and tidy city with their families and friends, not in a city of illegal dumps, has decided to launch a large cleaning action of the Barice picnic area on Saturday, April 20. The action starts at 11:00 AM, and Sarajevo high school students will also participate.

This action is supported by the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, whose representatives visited the site with members of this association and other participants in the project, and the locations to be cleaned have been defined. The gathering point is at Barice or in front of the Second Gymnasium, from where bus transport will be provided for high school students. Participation in the action has been confirmed by students and teachers from the Second Gymnasium, as well as the Gymnasium Obala, and a large number of citizens. The Municipality of Stari Grad has invited citizens, through local communities, to respond to the action. As the second phase includes the installation of benches and bins, municipal services will position them on site, determining the locations where they can be placed.

The informal group of citizens who initiated the action "Let's Clean the City in One Day" cleaned several locations in Sarajevo last month, and with the support of high school students, as well as KJKP Rad, several tons of waste were collected and removed.

"Unfortunately, the situation with the city's cleanliness is still dire, and we have decided to continue our activities because a large number of people and organizations have contacted us who want to support such actions," said the group.

It is important to emphasize that the citizens' initiative "Let's Clean the City in One Day" is also supported by ASA Bank, whose employees will also be part of the action. As part of their support, they will provide t-shirts, gloves, garbage bags, and all necessary cleaning equipment, as well as refreshments at the end. ASA Bank will also support the second phase of the project and finance the installation of bins and benches, so that visitors can fully enjoy the natural wealth of this picnic area.

The collected waste during the cleaning action of Barice will be put into bags and deposited along the main road, from where it will be removed by KJKP "Rad".
