Srebrenica is quiet this morning. There are almost no pedestrians on the streets. Srebrenica residents are awaiting the verdict for Radovan Karadžić calmly. A slightly larger number of police officers patrolling around the Municipality building, the main square, and the Memorial Center in Potočari is noticeable, writes the Patria agency.
The Hague Tribunal will deliver the verdict for the first president of Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadžić, today at 2 PM, for genocide crimes in seven municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina... The prosecution also charges Karadžić with sniper attacks on civilians in Sarajevo and taking UN peacekeepers hostage. Karadžić is also accused of genocide crimes in Srebrenica.
- It is calm in Srebrenica. There are no people on the streets. Partly due to the cold, but probably also because of Karadžić's verdict - Edin Ikanović from the non-governmental organization Prvi mart told Patria.
A public viewing of the verdict against Karadžić is organized at the Memorial Center in Potočari. Families of those killed from Srebrenica and surrounding municipalities will gather at the place where Karadžić's policies led to the murder of more than 8,000 Bosniaks. A large number of journalists are also present in Potočari, writes Patria.
