Police inspector investigating corruption arrested for bribery in Split

(Patria) - In an operation by the Croatian police and USKOK, several suspects were arrested today for corruption, including, according to unofficial information, the economic crime inspector of the Split police, Vjeko Luetić.

The police and USKOK today, without revealing identities and details, announced that they are carrying out arrests and so-called urgent evidentiary actions such as searches and evidence collection in the area of Split-Dalmatia County.

They also confirmed that among those arrested is a police officer from the Split-Dalmatia Police Administration.

The police state that after the criminal investigation, they will file a criminal complaint with USKOK, from which they emphasize that after questioning the suspects, they will decide on further proceedings and will inform the public in a timely manner.

After the questioning, USKOK must decide whether to launch an investigation against those arrested, and if they request detention for the suspects, the investigating judge of the County Court will decide on that, Hina reports.

Slobodna Dalmacija reveals that Luetić was arrested after a months-long investigation on suspicion of accepting a bribe in the form of construction stone worth several thousand euros in order to slow down or stop the criminal processing of responsible persons from the company "Ana Kamen projekt d.o.o." from Kaštel Sućurac.

In addition to Luetić, who is suspected of accepting a bribe, one of the directors of that company, Ivan Šipić, who gave him the bribe, was also arrested.
