Two arrested in Sarajevo for extortion, 60,000 KM found

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Police officers of the Federal Police Administration, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton and with the engagement of the Special Police Unit of the FUP, have begun the implementation of an operational action codenamed "TOWER", in the area of Sarajevo Canton, with the aim of documenting persons connected to the criminal offense of "Receiving gifts and other forms of benefit" from Article 380 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina provided significant support during the investigation.

Within the framework of the aforementioned activities, two individuals from Sarajevo, initials S.H. (1961) and E.M. (1976), were deprived of their liberty. During the search, a sum of money equivalent to 60,000.00 KM was found and confiscated, which was used during the commission of the criminal offense and will serve as evidence in the criminal proceedings. The said individuals are suspected of having, in the previous period, in order to gain unlawful property benefit from subcontractors of construction works of the residential/commercial building "Tower", demanded and received money, gifts, and other forms of benefit, in order to enable them to carry out and complete the works without hindrance.

Acting on the Order of the Municipal Court of Sarajevo, police officers of the Federal Police Administration are conducting searches in the residential/commercial building "Panamera" in the municipality of Ilidža, during which items originating from or related to the aforementioned criminal offense were found and confiscated.

The persons deprived of their liberty will be processed criminally in the official premises of the Federal Police Administration, and within the legal deadline, they will be handed over to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton along with a Report on the committed criminal offense.
