Meeting of HJPC Representatives, Prosecutors, and Heads of Security Agencies and Police in Sarajevo

A meeting of heads of prosecutor's offices and police bodies at a strategic level is being held in Sarajevo today. The meeting was organized by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) within the project “Strengthening Prosecutorial Capacities in the Criminal Justice System” which the HJPC BiH is implementing, with the support of the governments of Switzerland and Norway, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- The goal of this strategic-level meeting is to improve the existing level of cooperation for a more successful fight against crime. Representatives of judicial institutions attending the meeting include Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina Goran Salihović, Chief Prosecutor of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zdravko Knežević, Chief Prosecutor of the Republican Prosecutor's Office of Republika Srpska Mahmut Švraka, and Chief Prosecutor of the Brčko District BiH Prosecutor's Office Zekerija Mujkanović. Heads of the highest police bodies Perica Stanić, Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Dragan Lukač, Director of the Federal Police Administration, Gojko Vasić, Director of the Republika Srpska Police, and Goran Pisić, Head of the Brčko District BiH Police, are also participants in this meeting - it was announced from the HJPC.

The participants of the meeting were addressed by the President of the HJPC BiH Milan Tegeltija, who is attending the meeting. In addition to coordinating the dynamics of future meetings, participants are considering four other significant topics in the domain of the work of prosecutor's offices and police bodies, namely “Defining prosecution policies and priorities in processing certain forms of crime and synchronizing activities in this direction”, “Providing inter-entity legal assistance and cooperation in criminal matters”, “The problem of submitting reports on committed criminal offenses without established grounds for suspicion and collected evidence, and the issue of a large number of KTN (unknown perpetrator) cases”, and “Considering the possibility of systematically defining rules and procedures for forming joint investigation teams in complex cases”.

After the discussion on each of the listed topics, conclusions will be prepared and implemented in the coming period.
