Film about missing persons and families searching for them shown in Sarajevo

The film "I Miss You" by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), which deals with the suffering of people searching for missing family members, premiered tonight at the Meeting Point cinema in Sarajevo, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Erna Mačkić, editor at BIRN, told Patria earlier that she and her colleagues wanted to show through this film the pain that families of the missing go through during the process of finding their family members, as well as the importance of accelerating the process of finding missing persons.

- There are thousands of people in BiH who have been waiting for years for a phone call informing them that their loved ones have been found, but for many, this has still not happened – said Mačkić.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, around ten thousand missing persons are still being searched for, who disappeared without a trace during the aggression against BiH from '92 to '95.

Furthermore, Interpol's lists of missing persons also include several individuals whose fate is unknown, and who disappeared under peacetime conditions.

The film "I Miss You" was shown through the stories of real characters who lost their loved ones during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of them is Fikret Bačić, whose two minor children and wife were shot by members of the Army of Republika Srpska in Prijedor in 1992.

- A large number of people disappear worldwide every year, every day, and I think a unified solution should be found to help their families who are searching for them – said Mačkić, writes Patria.
